The 3 Worst Diet Mistakes You Should Avoid At All Costs
Aug 13th, 2008 by Ann Huz
There is definitely a lot of information on weight loss, however, the very same dieting mistakes have repeatedly been made by dieters. These are not little mistakes but rather huge ones that always lead to failure.
So, to accomplish long-term weight loss, you need to fully understand what they are and how they will affect you. And more importantly, you need to be willing to correct them. Here are some of those mistakes.
1. Having An All-Or-Nothing Mindset
Dieters with an all-or-nothing personality want to be the most perfect dieter. They want to follow their diet plan in a perfect way. Unfortunately, with their attitude that something is either a perfect success or a complete failure, if something happens that makes them unable to maintain the diet, they stop. To them, everything is ruined and their diet is now over.
If you are an individual with that sort of attitude, realize that making any kind of mistake is normal. Being flexible will take a lot of stress away and make it easer for you. Just make whatever changes is necessary so you can keep going with your weight loss programme.
2. The Wrong Meaning Of Sacrifice
One other mistake commonly made is to look at your diet as a “sacrifice” which is very negative. With this attitude, you feel that you need to make a huge sacrifice in order to achieve your dieting goal.
This attitude is wrong because what happens when you’ve attained your goal? When your so-called sacrifice ends, will you feel entitled to a huge reward for having gone through all that “suffering”? Will you reward yourself with lots of junk food that you couldn’t have during your act of sacrifice?
So instead of thinking as dieting as an evil sacrifice, think of it as a beneficial lifestyle change that will benefit you in so many ways.
3. Setting The Wrong Goals
Making goals that are unattainable is another mistake over-eager dieters make. Your goals need to be clear and realistic. For example, losing two or even just one pound a week is more reasonable than wanting to lose 30 pounds in 30 days. So don’t set a goal that will be destined to fail.
If you have made some of the mistakes mentioned above, do not worry as there is hope. The important thing for you is to learn from any of your failures and never use them as excuses for giving up. Stick with your goal and you will achieve it. With commitment, you can overcome those bad diet mistakes.
