The natural drug Resveratrol, known to come from the knotweed plant in Japan, has shown a lot of positive results in testing that researchers have done with it, especially when it comes to cancer and diabetes. They have been doing experiments in many areas with rats and mice but minimal testing has been done with humans as of yet. Resveratrol has also been found to be one of the ingredients that come from the skins of red grapes, as well as wine.
With one study, they found that animals that are on diets that contain a high level of fat content, but took the drug, were able to maintain a balanced blood sugar level. This is not the case for the rats that were not taking the drug as they were found to be at a 30% higher risk level of death due to the same diet. This shows a bit of support of the claims that Resveratrol can be helpful in aiding with lengthening the lifespan in certain animals.
Some studies that have been done in animals have found that Resveratrol can increase the life span that they have. It also was found to neutralize the effects that high fat diets had in mice. These studies showed that the mice that had a high fat diet and were taking Resveratrol had a 30% less risk of death than mice that just had a high fat diet.
There have also been studies that prove that Resveratrol has cancer prevention benefits as well. A topical form of the substance had been applied to mice and showed that it prevented skin cancer from developing from the mice that had carcinogenic exposure. It has also been found that when injected into the lungs of mice afflicted with certain forms of cancer that it slowed the process of metastasis as well as the growth of the tumours.
Even with all the positive things that have been found with Resveratrol there are also some negative things that have been brought to light as well. There are some that think that it may promote the growth of breast cancer cells in humans.
But then you get the flip side of the coin, and people saying what a great fighter it is in prevention of the disease. People are people, and not all of us think alike. Unfortunately, this can make the way others see things far more difficult.
The belief of red wine being a good thing in relation to cardio issues of all kinds is said to have come from the finding of Resveratrol being in it. This has been an ongoing debate of many people over the years, and still continues this way now.
The studies that are being done in regards to Resveratrol are ongoing. There are risks that are associated with anything that has medicinal properties in it. It is all a judgment call that the person thinking of taking it needs to make. The most important thing that anyone can do is research it thoroughly and then decide if this is something that you want to put into your body or not.
