A short while ago, Leslie Stahl and a crew from 60 Minutes traveled to Africa in order to discover what all of the talk about the new weight loss pill was all about. They had heard of this pill called Hoodia, and they wanted to know if the main ingredient, an extract taken from the Hoodia gordonii plant, truly worked They were led around by tribal bushmen in order to find the Hoodia gordonii plant. When they found some, the correspondent, Stahl, ate some. She claims that it was “cucumbery in texture, but not bad”. What surprised her the most, however, was that after she ingested a small piece of the plant, she lost all desire to eat or drink until the next day. She suffered from no immediate side effects and, in conclusion, said, “I’d have to say it did work”.
